i'm sy.br1d, also known as rafabd1. i do vulnerability research and build tools for my own work. i like unusual bugs and creative ways to exploit them with real impact. i'm pretty competitive, too.
i got a PC of my own in 2017. it ran Linux Mint on an AMD FX, if i remember right. it could barely run a browser, but that's where i started learning C++. i was already into hacking by then, though still very much a skid. i bought my first modern laptop in 2020, when i was doing an IT support internship. i spent my early years learning software development.
i started studying security in 2025 with Hack The Box. within my first few months, i earned my first bounty at AT&T and kept going. a little over a year later, i had critical CVEs in Next.js and librsvg. i've also found bugs in GitLab, GitHub and other widely used projects. bug bounty paid for the setup i have today.
i'm self-taught and like figuring out how to learn in a way that works for me. i also build custom tools like Erebus, Argos and SecretHound to help with my research. solving the problems in my own workflow is a big part of how i learn and get better at the work.
lately, i've been going deeper into the fundamentals. i want to understand how systems work and why they're built that way. i think that knowledge carries over across computing, even when the language or target changes.
i also enjoy CTFs, Active Directory, Rust, Assembly and anime. sometimes i make games. i tend to get along better with computers than people, but i'm usually nice, i think.
